The Korean Association of Canadian Studies (KACS)
The Korean Association of Canadian Studies (KACS) was established on April 1, 1992 to promote Canadian Studies in Korea, and was founded under the leadership of the Center for Canadian Studies at Yonsei University, along with the Centre de Recherches sur la Francophonie of Seoul National University which was a former associate member of the International Council for Canadian Studies (ICCS).
KASC became a full member of the ICCS in May 1994.
KASC encourages the development of Canadian Studies by providing opportunities for academic exchanges and fellowships to scholars interested in Canadian Studies in the areas of humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. KACS publishes “Canada Nonchong” (Korean Review of Canadian Studies) and organizes KACS conferences annually where Canadian and Korean scholars, politicians, and artists present their ideas on Canada-Korea relations, Canadian law, literature, politics, culture, economy and other academic fields.
And also, The Canadian studies program section of the Canadian Embassy in Seoul acts as the administrative agent for several programs of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) and the International Council of Canadian Studies (ICCS). The general objective of these programs is to develop a better knowledge and understanding of Canada and the Canadian Affairs amongst Korean academics and the general public. These programs provide support for the development of teaching, research and publication of material on Canada.
